Center Story Located in a village steeped in animism, the people surrounding this center spend their days appeasing spirits. The people believed Pastor Alagesan was mad when he preached about Jesus’ power over evil spirits. One local man, who was known as the town drunk, forbid his wife from taking their daughter to the center because he feared the spirits would become angry with him. However, after baby Jeslin became deathly ill, her mother defied her father, and brought her to the center. While initially furious, after some time, and much prayer, Jeslin’s father realized that his addiction was negatively affecting him and his family. Seeing his child thrive at the center softened his heart and he began seeking help to work on his addiction. He now supports his daughter attending the center and is trying to overcome his addiction.
